Can you find an Irish band for my wedding?

Help me find an Irish band to play my wedding's cocktail hour in the Schenectady / Albany NY area.

Much to my surprise, I'm having a hard time finding an Irish duo (guitar and fiddle) to play traditional Irish music at my wedding's cocktail hour. We're not interested in the purist Celtic stuff, we want a band that will play "The Irish Rover," "The Foggy Dew," and other songs you'd hear on the Irish Hit Parade or your local pub. Most of the decent groups I've found online are prohibitively far away, which pushes their cost way up. Any assistance is appreciated!

Do you have any Irish pubs within a reasonable distance of where you need to be? I would start calling around and asking there. If the person who answers the phone isn't in an Irish band themself, chances are excellent that they know someone who is. Pubs book bands like this all the time and will be happy to pass the info on to you.

And congratulations!

I don't know if they're exactly what you're looking for, but Hair of the Dog would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

And congrats! My wife and I just got married in Saratoga last year and it was amazing.

Geez, call the AOH. They can probably roll off about a dozen.

Incidentally, do you also need dancers? You can get your dancers there, too--it's my old dancing school, so I can vouch for their excellence.

And all the best to you!
