What's a seven-letter word for "disseminate"?

I've taken a huge step into the dark side of dorkdom, and I've begun writing my own crosswords. Mostly for fun, mostly to see if I could actually do it. Turns out I can. Now, how can I go about getting these published somewhere? Online, magazines, newspapers--I really have no idea how to start. Suggestions?

Best answer: You should get this book - it's a little hokey, but it has lots of good advice.
Also, you can hang around the forums at cruciverb.com and get some feedback on your puzzles. That site also has info on how to publish in various places.

These are really the best places to start.

Best answer: Cruciverb has a list of publisher specification and stylesheets.

Definitely give Wordplay a viewing. It's got Wil Shortz in it!

Splooge.

Seconding Cruciverb, which is the community you want to plumb here. You should probably also adjust your format to meet some sort of common denominator you can glean from that stylesheet guide. And you can always start spamming newspapers.

Also check out Brendan Emmett Quigley's blog- as well as posting puzzles, he talks about how and where he gets published (from the NYT to sports-themed puzzle books)
