Someday I hope to hit Steve Albini with a brick

Is there a thing which works like RePlay Gain, but instead of volume tags it makes perceived but non-destructive embedded EQ settings?
Failing that, is there a "set EQ setting per track" plug-in or 3rd party app for Winamp?

You can save a new preset in iTunes, however, and assign that per track. That's going to get really really gross to sort through eventually, though!

Response by poster: I wasn't aware of the feature burnmp3s mentions. What I'd like is a more sophisticated version which returns to zero when it hits a track with no preset info, idea being to give the occasional "goose" to badly mixed tunes, rather than have to set a profile for every song.

Yeah, I think Winamp will work for that then. Here's what the page I linked to above says to do:
When a "bad" song is playing that you want to change the EQ for, follow these steps:
1. set the EQ to the way you like for a currently playing song
2. press Presets button
3. select Save
4. select Auto-load preset...
5. press the Save button
To set the default EQ that is used for all of the other songs you play, follow these steps once:
1. set the sliders to your preference for a default
2. press Presets button
3. select Save
4. select Default

If so, I believe Winamp has this functionality without needing any plug-ins, just set the EQ settings you want and save them as the Auto-load preset for that track as described here.
I think iTunes lets you set the one of the standard EQ settings for each track, but you can't use a different custom EQ for each one as far as I know.
