Need Firefox help. Somehow all my extensions and bookmarks have disappeared from Firefox, and I cannot figure out how to get them back. Firefox help and Google have not given me the answers I need. Has anyone else had this problem?

Without more details, it's hard to say. Have you upgraded recently?

if you're running xp, try this:
- close firefox
- open task manager
- look for firefox.exe under processes
- if it's there, end the task
- restart firefox.

Sometimes my bookmarks disappear on me, and this seems to fix it. ymmv.

Thanks sauril, this happened to me awhile ago and I had no idea how to fix it. I ended up having to restore my bookmarks manually. Glad to know how to fix it if it happens again!

this has happened to me before, and I found a slightly different fix which may help someone else.

for some reason, a new default profile was created for me..this has happened a couple times at random. The fix is to run firefix from the command line (assuming windows xp, go to Start/Run... and type

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox" -profilemanager

A dialog box comes up before opening firefox that lets you choose which profile. When this happened to me I think there were two profiles, "default" and "Default" or something. I picked the other one and all my bookmarks, etc. came back. I later went back and deleted the "Default" profile.

hope this helps someone

You can also use MozBackup to, uh, back up your bookmarks and preferences. It's not perfect, but it works in a pinch.
