Party time... in midtown?

NYC party-filter: I need a private-ish room for an after-party in November. Caveats inside.

My SO is having a reading of his show on a Tuesday night in November, and we’d like to have a little get-together drinkfest for the cast afterwards. We wouldn’t get there till about 9:30 or 10pm, probably 30-40 of us, and should be within walking distance of Times Square/Midtown west. I’ve looked through the Metatalk questions for NYC Meetup Places, but you guys always hang out in the East Village. :)

Bonus points if we don’t have to pay a charge for a private room, or can get sone kind of drink deal.

Have you looked into Landmark Tavern? They have a couple cool private rooms upstairs, and they're probably just a couple blocks away (46th and 11th Avenue).

That's an interesting idea.... it's a LOT far west (we'll be near 8th Avenue) though, for what may be a cold night.

Social has a few private areas, I've been to a couple parties in their upstairs rooms. It's worth taking a walk down the general area around 9/10 in the 40s/50s- where Social, Valhalla, Hibernia are- I'll bet a handful of bars there have something that will suit you.

Folks from my work often book the upstairs room at McGee's. It's a decent space for a big crowd. I'm not sure if it costs any extra though, but since you're planning for a weekday you might get a deal.

I've been to private events held at Stitch in the Garment District a few times; the space is decent and there's a separate upstairs. Might be worth a look.

Chelsea Hotel on 23rd will rent biggish rooms and is amenable about this kinda thing. Speak to the after-midnight desk clerk and let him know what you're looking for. He'll be helpful.

Check out Lansdowne Road at 43rd and 10th. Very nice place, great beer and food, and a back room that they will rope off if you like.
