Help me identify a book about an amazing Italian man with obsessive compulsive disorder.
No less than 20 years ago, I read a biography of a man in pre-World War II Italy with a debilitating fear of animals and ritualized strategies for avoiding them. I don't believe the term "obsessive compulsive disorder" was ever mentioned, as it was decidedly not about symptomatology or "what it's like to have OCD." Instead, the essence of the book was the man's dignity and essential worth, untouched by his "disorder." This book changed my life. Please help me find it again.
