Printing .JPG images from the internets- help! [mi]
posted by selfnoise to (7 comments total)
So, I have a large image in a tab in Firefox (in Windows XP). This image is scaled down to fit in the window. When I print it out in this form, it takes up a portion of the page. When I print it out zoomed in, it prints out larger than the page. I want this image, which is of 1 8.5by11 document, to print out taking up the whole page, but no more. How can I do this efficiently?

If you want to do it entirely in Firefox, you can go to Print Preview and mess around with the "Scale" setting to get the perfect fit.

You could copy-paste it into Word.

Can you print it via a graphics program? I have Paint Shop Pro open right now, and there's a "fit to page" option in Page Setup, in the File menu. Alternately, if you send me the link I could make a pdf for you and email you the link to it.

Page Setup and I are now getting along nicely. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Actually, when printing things (like maps and directions) from the web, I'll make the webpage full-screen, take a screen-capture, then paste it into Photoshop and crop it to the right dimensions. Then I print it out using the Page Setup -> 'fit to page' option. It gives you complete control over the size and appearance of the printout.

Windows XP has the tools you need built in.

Save the file to your hard drive. Double click it. Click "Print" in the windows picture/fax viewer. Go through the steps. When prompted to select what type of printout you want, choose the first one (Full page fax rotated and centered). 100% automated scaling.

Enjoy.
