I am trying to find information about a famous singer- not sure of the spelling- Gali Gerci or Galli Gerchi. My m-i- l said she was famous in England (~ mid 1930's) and she recalls her father getting her mother a record of her singing Peer Gynt's "Solveig's Song". Can anyone help- at least w/ the correct spelling?

You mean Amelita Galli-Curci.

And the song is available here in a recording from 1917 (it's by Edvard Grieg, btw - originally written for Ibsen's play Peer Gynt).
