By "otherwise", I mean "not officially sanctioned by Apple or AT&T". posted by archagon at 4:43 PM on August 18
You can get them unlocked (legally). But not AT&T ones. In New Zealand they have to be sold unlocked, in Australia you have to call the carrier and it takes some days, but it's not a big deal. I'm not sure about iphones in other countries.
I haven't seen any other unlock methods for AT&T ones, but hopefully somebody else knows more. posted by defcom1 at 6:00 PM on August 18
Why do you want to unlock the phone without using Ultrasn0w? posted by ManInSuit at 7:24 PM on August 18
There is also purplera1n. (sorry, you'll have to google it yourself for details, firewalls!) posted by defcom1 at 10:29 PM on August 18
purplera1n is a jailbreak tool, not an unlocker. posted by Blazecock Pileon at 11:49 PM on August 18
