Duplicate Duplicate Metadata Metadata

Is there some preference or setting I am missing? Why does my metadata in Aperture get overlaid twice?

(Screenshot) See that at the bottom of the picture? How can I make it only show the data once? I have been through the user's manual more than once, so either I missed it, or don't understand what I am doing incorrectly.

Best answer: Aperture Discussions is where the experts hang out.

I don't have the answer to your question. You can toggle the metadata on and off with the Y key. If you shift-Y, you switch to the alternate metadata set. Go to preferences/Metadata. There you see the metadata sets that appear in the Viewer, which is the view you are concerned with. Try editing the set, maybe that will tell you how Aperture decides to make some fields appear twice.

Response by poster: Thanks for the link, I was browsing around there and didn't see it. I will continue to hunt. Maybe I will have to try the trial and error route as you suggested. In the screenshot I was building my own metadata view, and everything just showed up twice. Sigh. I value my screen real estate!

Best answer: Strange as this sounds, I don't think it's a duplicate. I think Aperture shows in Large the "major' shooting data: ISO, Fstop, Exposure length, Exposure changes and Lens Diameter.

I tried adding/removing metadata (for display) and any time I added any of those - the "larger' version of them showed up - and as I thought about it; it was because they're so critical in judging shots.
