I am looking for the name or a link to a photographer who shoots pictures of store shelves filled with products, and then photoshops out all the branding / logos etc. so that the shelves appear to be filled with blank products. [+]

I'm fairly certain I once saw it linked off of MetaFilter, but it would have been over a year ago. Searches of MeFi archives and googling terms like 'blank products' and various iterations have turned up nothing; I'm hoping someone here either bookmarked it or can point me in the right direction.

I think I remember that too but it wasnt Gursky. I remember a photo of a magazine stand with all the writing removed (Logos etc.) and someone commented it had a nice, quiet zen feel to it.

Gursky's work is so close, but it's not quite what I'm thinking of. vacapinta has it right, it had a very quiet, zenlike feeling to it. The images that I remember were also dominantly white or very muted colours.

Discussed on Mefi here. His floating logos, also available on his site, are really cool as well.

Could it be Damien Hirst? I know he doesn't always photograph, but it sounds kind of like him.

I know askme isn't for chat but wow - these Matt Siber photos are so cool. Thanks for asking id girl.

Wow, those Matt Siber images are fantastic. But alas, still not what I'm thinking of. I'm starting to wonder if I imagined these images in a dream or something - I have such a vivid image in my head of a supermarket with shelves full of blank products.

No, you're definitely not hallucinating. I'm still Googling for them, but I've seen them too... I think shows in Williamsburg, actually. The hard way: start with these galleries on this pulldown list.

I've seen these photos in Adbusters magazine but alas, I believe the issue containing the photos in question is at my parents' house... the Adbusters site reveals nothing and a metafilter search for 'Adbusters' reveals plenty of Adbusters links but not what you're looking for... can any other Adbusters readers help out?

Fuzzy Monster, I think you may be right about the adbusters thing. I probably saw it in a print issue, but that would have to have been more than a year or two ago. I'll keep looking around, I know I still have some back issues lying around somewhere.

Thank you to everyone who posted links, at least I got to see some very cool photography as a result of my question.
