Concave at the front and convex at the back to match the natural slope of your shoulders and neck towards your chest. posted by rmless at 7:25 AM on August 5, 2009
The concave side. Think of the hanger as the shoulders of a person with a hunchback. It supposedly keeps the shirt in proper form. posted by melissasaurus at 7:27 AM on August 5, 2009
Yeah, concave at the front. It mirrors the natural curve of the body.
Why? I can't see how it could be the other way. When you shop for suits or coats, that's how they come. Illustration. posted by That takes balls. at 7:30 AM on August 5, 2009 [1 favorite]
Also, make sure the hook faces inward. That way, in a fire, you can grab all of your clothes in one motion and run. posted by CodeMonkey at 8:50 AM on August 5, 2009 [1 favorite]
@CodeMonkey - I knew there was more than my native OCD making me do that! posted by arcticseal at 11:27 AM on August 5, 2009
OCD? No, no, merely practical. When you're flipping through the hangers, trying to decide what to wear, it works much better if they're facing the same direction so you're looking at the front of each garment, instead of being all mixed up. I am not OCD. Just... detail-oriented. posted by Lexica at 6:48 PM on August 5, 2009
