I've always had teeny microphones kicking around, but never used them with my PC. Now that I've got my hands on a USB mic, though, I feel a burning need to justify keeping it on my cramped desk. In your experience, what're the most useful/productive/amusing/geeky voice-activated apps?

Dragon Naturally Speaking... It is a cute little voice recognition dictation program that is really more of a novelty than a tool. In theory, it can take down text and operate equivalents of most of microsoft office. That being said, it's the best on the market and even has a medical edition out for easing the tedium of medical dictation.

To put it another way: what do you use your mic for?

Tuning my guitar, with AudioPhonics guitar tuner. (Not a shill, it's just the best free one I've found.)

No one notices the little microphone on your computer, and of course you leave your computer on all the time - so if you have enough hard drive space you can record conversations that go on around your computer while you're not there.

That was good times.
