Toronto Area Fishing Holes

Favourite Toronto-area fishing holes?

My non-fishing girlfriend has insisted that our summer include a fishing trip, and I'm happy to oblige. The trouble is that although I'm not new to fishing, I never go in the Toronto area.

I'm looking for somewhere we can get to in less than an hour or so (from the edge of the city). I don't care what size or type of fish we could potentially catch, I'd just like to be reasonably sure we can catch something. Where would you recommend?

I don't fish (vegan) and it is not on the outskirts of the city, but Grenedier Pond in High Park is frequently bustling with "fisherpeople".

I've heard rumours that they keep the pond stocked. Bonus, it's also easily reached by subway!

I'm also a non-fishing person, but I see there haven't been many answers from fishing people here, so here's what little I know:

There are often people fishing at Rouge Beach Park. They seem to catch things quite regularly. That web page mentions that a seasonal license is required, though. Technically this is still within the City of Toronto, but only by a few feet. It's on the border with Pickering, at the very end of Lawrence Avenue East.

I second the Grenadier Pond suggestion, but be careful of the poison ivy in the area (I learned the hard way). I've found this List of Urban Fishing Sites in the Toronto Area pretty handy, and don't forget to bring your outdoors card.

I've never been, but fishing is available at the Heart Lake Conservation area in Brampton. Sounds like a beautiful place, and it'll get you out of the city as well.
