Health insurance?

Can anyone suggest insurance coverage for a student?

I am 27 and about to stop working full time to finish my BA. Living off of loans and working part time i should be okay, but I would like to have insurance coverage. Any ideas? I've been looking online but not really happy with what i am finding ( cost a lot for very little benefit). Has anyone else lived this or have any suggestions?

Usually if you are a full-time student you can get lower-cost group insurance through the school you attend.

Knowing your state would be helpful.

Not sure about Texas, but SUNY schools require proof of health insurance when enrolling. If you don't have private insurance, they will enroll you in the university's plan for pretty short money.

So I would ask this question of the school you want to attend.

Seconding what bunnycup said. I know that all the public universities in my state have a plan with the exact same (good) coverage I get through my employer, but for 22% less than what I'm paying now. (Specifically, it's $915/yr for a PPO-type plan from United Healthcare.) If you're going to a private/tiny college, maybe they don't get such a great deal, but check with your school before you shop for an individual policy.

Will you be attending UT? If so, go ahead and enroll in their student plan. It's cheaper than any private insurance you can get.

I think the UHC insurance through UT is going to work the best. It's a little more than katieinshoes said, but everything at UT is a little more expensive.

Thank you all.
