Good gay podcasts

Many of the gay podcasts out there seem to just be two guys chatting. Does anyone know of a podcast that gives an overview or a history of the gay rights movement, or even is just gay and entertaining generally? Also auditory stuff that isn't a podcast but is iPoddable would also be fine (i.e. a good audiobook).

Best answer: These are all fairly well known podcasts, I believe, but I'm going to list them anyway. I don't know of a gay history podcast. (Hey, an excuse to buy a Snowball mic!) Occasionally, Eat This Hot Show and The Daily Purge discuss history, but that's very rare. Ramble Redhead does a lot of interviews, so his show tends to be more informative than what I generally listen to. Of course, these are all "guys chatting" (or guy and girl chatting). Big Gay News is history as it has just happened. The Occasional Fag has been about activism more and more frequently. I've never listened to John Ong, but I did listen to him recently on the Pride 48 weekend. He also does a podcast in Penang Hokkien. DADT podcast was interesting, but it has ended. (I've been trying to needle John to start up a sequel to it.) Topical was fantastic and funny, but here! TV is short sighted and cancelled all their podcasts. Comic Book Queers is more about comics than queers, and it again hits the "guys chatting" problem.

Response by poster: Cool this is a good start. I guess when I said guys chatting I really meant people whining about exes. Although it looks like there might be a place for a Hardcore Homo History out there.

Best answer: I asked a friend of mine who listens to quite a few, and this was his response:
So whoever replied above has a nice list of all the podcast I would note. I have more to add. The old guard podcasts are Yeast Radio (Madge is busy these days and so the shows are infrequent and not the quality they once where. I don't blame Madge at all for this, listen-turds would not toss in a coin every once in awhile so . . . Great Yeast was during the bush administration when Madge was just pissed.), Lucky Bitch Radio with Wanda Wisdom is always fun. I also like Feast of Fun (yea two guys talking BUT not whining about exes.) It was called Feast of Fools and just reached 1000 episodes and they are all over the map on interesting content. Btalk, a bears podcast that is ending at its 200th episode but hopefully the files will be online for awhile. PNSexplosion is total madness, very silly gay boys who like to chat about anything, do little skits, etc. Fox in the City, totally wonderful observations and ramblings of a very smart gay man and noted author. GayUSA is amazing, high quality news content with a female and male host - a must listen to all homos or those who care about them. Trans-Ponder, a trans podcast that is very nice. The GayTrucker (djdavidj) is not podcasting much these days but hopefully his files are still up there on the nets, he's a Canadian trucker who has lots of interesting things to say. Mikeypod, totally wonderful, interesting music and well, he's just a sweetheart! Twinkleboi out of the UK was always interesting but he's not podcasting as much lately. Trannywreck was cool too but I haven't listened in a while.

I'm always sad to see that there's such little representation of women and Trans folk in this genre but I think it says a lot about inequities that still exist in our world. Women I think still have less access too disposable income and thus less access to technology. I don't have data to back that up but it's a guess. I'd love to see some good lesbian podcasts! I'd love to get some dykes with mics to us all what's what!
