Dirty Butts Drive Us Nuts!
June 30, 2009 8:11 AM   Subscribe

Mrs. cdmwebs and I just had our first baby. Yeah! We wanted to use a diaper service but we have none in our area. Boo! So, we're starting one soon, but we're having a bit of trouble with the name. Can you help us, AskMe?

We liked Smarty Pants, but that's taken already (imagine that!).

A little background: we'll be doing cloth diaper pickup and delivery, laundering and selling supplies (diaper covers, snappies, etc). Geographic region is Greenville/Spartanburg South Carolina.

We'd like to emphasize the green benefit mostly, but also the fact that cloth seems to be better for baby as well.

Thanks, Mefites!

Eco-Poop! Sorry, couldn't help myself. Seriously though - I like the Greenville Diaper Co suggestion. Your logo could have the "green" part in green text, with some leaves embellishing it or something, and the rest of the text in another gender-neutral color.

Our environmentally friendly diaper service (in Dallas) is called "Green Baby Diaper Service." They started for the same reasons that you did, are going gangbusters, and have expanded their service area and offerings a couple of times this year! (Here's their website, if you want to peek around.)

My wife and I love their service, and it makes our life much easier.

Um... suggestion-wise:
-Green Diaper Depot
-Happy Baby Diaper Service
-Mother's Little Helper
-Greenville Green Diaper
-Eco Baby Diaper Delivery
-Sustainable Diapers

Good luck!

I'm loving some of these names, but a serious question (since I don't know your area and its demographics) would be - who are your customers going to be? Why are they going to be attracted to using your diaper service? Is eco-friendliness a big selling point to them, or a fringe benefit? Traditional stay at home moms, or busy working parents attracted to the convenience factor? You need to figure out who your biggest demographic is likely to be, and come up with a name aimed at them.

Response by poster: These are great everyone! I love Dooty Calls, but keep 'em coming!

Joh: The way I see it, if we market effectively (as many others appear to be doing, just not in our area) the major points will mesh with the individual's preferences. For instance, we plan to be environmentally friendly anyway, so to the parent who's interested in convenience it's sort of a neat bonus. To the customer who's biggest concern is the environmental impact, the convenience factor comes in handy, too.

When we researched using cloth diapers, all of these just made sense in addition to the better-for-baby points, so I tend to believe others will feel the same.

In the section on "environmentally friendly" on your future website, you might want to address some of the points mentioned here.

Response by poster: I'm not going to mark any as best, because they're all great! I'm still liking Doody Calls and Greenville Diaper Company, so I guess we'll have to figure it out! Thanks, all!
