Microsd card for Garmin

Can I buy Microsd card for my Gamin 400T for a sandisk or any other microsd card maker? I'm after an inexpensive 4GB card. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks...Orlin

I've used a lot of different MicroSD cards before, and I've not really noticed any difference between the brands.

Right now, Newegg has one for 11.99 with free shipping. That's not really a bad deal.

$12 for 4G is pretty expensive today -- you can find 4G for $5 before shipping very easily. You're definitely not running any high data throughput to that card, so don't spend extra on a high speed or premium brand.

The only thing to watch for is SD vs SDHC (high capacity). The 400T is new enough that it should take the HC cards, but a quick google on the garmin website couldn't confirm that.

Also - 4G might be wasted. I have a 60CSx and can't come close to filling the 2G card I installed. With that version there's a limit to the number of map segments it can take, separate from total storage. (actually, in hindsight, it might just be a 1G card -- I have topo maps for the entire eastern half of the US and road maps for the northeast block down to virginia and up into canada, plus a few islands where I travel)

This (somewhat quarrelsome) discussion leads me to believe that 4GB SDHC cards work.

Jeez, I'm having a total "Back in my day, floppy disks held 170kB and we liked it" moment.

hit post too early -- if you have some time, you can check slickdeals (keep an eye out on there) -- they usually have a ton of deals on microSD cards
