I'm looking for some suggestions of Xbox 360 games I can play split-screen AND online simultaneously.

Some examples of what I mean are Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead, though I would love more casual games as well. The specific situation I'm in is that my wife and I bought an Xbox 360 for our parents so we could play with them when they are in Florida and we are in Kentucky. We were hoping to play Peggle and N+ together but realized they don't support local and online play simultaneously which is really frustrating.

So what has ended up happening is her dad and I play Left 4 Dead while they don't play anything together really. Anybody have any ideas?

It would require a leap into a different genre, but Rock Band 2 supports exactly what you want. So does NBA 2K9, Scene It 2...sorry that's all I got [since I OWN them and can vouch].

Response by poster: Different genres are definitely invited.

Of course, Rock Band would require a huge investment for both households, and Scene it we have and just find it to be kind of meh. Thanks though, good suggestions.

The games at the top of this list are co-op games with split screen and online players, but I don't think it's exhaustive as it seems very short, and it doesn't appear to include Arcade games.

Personally, I found "hot seat" playing N+ to be a lot of fun. Swapping around every time you die.

Gears 2 definitely does, but it's not that common of a feature. Maybe the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, I'm not 100% sure.

Guitar Hero World Tour is another music option, of course. Guitar Hero 5 (release date: Sept 2009) will have support for any combination of instruments, so you won't necessarily have to shell out for the drums and extra guitars - you could play it with just a game + guitar pack each (two guitarists, two vocalists using the regular 360 headset mic).

I *think* you can combine local and online play in Carcassonne, maybe you can get the demo to test that first though. That's a really great multiplayer boardgame. Very addictive. It supports the 360 webcam, if either of you have one.

XBLA might be your best bet. I've played Bomberman Live, TMNT, and Worms locally and online. I'm sure there are a ton of others as well.

Castle Crashers. Lots of fun.

2nding Castle Crashers. They seem to have fixed the issues with online multiplayer that plagued the game when it launched. It is a HUGE amount of fun to play with four players.
