CoolCasualNotExpensiveEatinginDallasFilter: Its my wifes bday today and a few of us want to go out to dinner to celebrate. Unfortunately none of us have alot to spend. Any Suggestions? Looking for a cool place to eat with good food, good drinks, and good atmosphere. We are coming from Richardson also so we dont want to drive to far. No further than downtown. Thanks in advance. Also....The average age of all of us is 31.

Patrizio used to be fairly reasonable when I lived in Dallas...especially given its location (Highland Park Village). And I always liked the food, atmosphere and drinks but it's been awhile.

Luna de Noche is a nice little mexican restaurant chain, though I can't speak for the quality of their drinks. There's one at Jupiter and Lookout, and two others I can't recall off the top of my head.

How about Mi Cocina? Great drinks, not too expensive, lots of locations. The mambo taxi is the perfect birthday drink. Gloria's is good too, the location on lower Greenville has a good margarita drinking patio.

I always enjoyed Taco Diner (owned by the same people as Mi Cocina)... there's one at Legacy and the Dallas North Tollway (I think the shopping centre is called The Shops at Legacy?), and there's one in the West Village, across the street from the Magnolia. There's also one in that big shopping centre at Northwest Highway and Preston, although I never liked the atmosphere at that one.
