Is there a list somewhere, of the first things ever sold by major retailers?

I was thinking that it might be neat to know what the very first thing that Amazon ever shipped out was. Or what the first dvd Netflix ever sent out was. Substitute any major company you like for those two.

Does such a list exist? Would companies keep track of such a thing?

I can't find a list, but I did find this:

What is true is that the very first item sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer sold for $14.83. Bemused, Omidyar contacted the buyer to check that he understood it was broken. "I collect broken laser pointers," the buyer replied.

And, upon further reflection, this:
Amazon's first sale, in July 1995, was Douglas Hofstadter's Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.
