Facebook borks my firefox bookmarks bar

I've been using Del.icio.us and I've made a "Bookmark on Delicious" link for my Firefox bookmarks bar, using this page. However, when I click on my link (or the My Delicious link I also created) they both take me to a facebook page that I visited on the day I created the bookmark. I removed them both and reinstalled them, but they changed back immediately to a new facebook page; I then manually changed the links to point to the ones from the delicious page, which worked for a while, but on restarting firefox they changed again to a facebook page. Any ideas?

No ideas, just more questions: On the linked page, did you install their add-on or did you create a bookmarklet? If you have a bookmarklet, can you compare its contents with the original? Any Facebook add-ons installed?

Response by poster: I just created a bookmarklet (sorry I meant this page); by its contents, i assume you mean its properties, which are just the link, which is to a random facebook page I visited yesterday, as compared to the link I tried to install which is javascript - however, the same change occurred to the My Delicious bookmarklet, which is just a simple link; No facebook anythings are installed

Incidentally my firefox history seems to have vanished/not be recorded but this problem predates that by some weeks

Sorry, I can't really help either - just thought I'd mention that the Delicious Firefox Add-On works really well, if you want to try and pursue a different approach.

Best answer: Sounds creepy. Can you reproduce this in an empty profile? If not, I'd suggest a corrupted profile as the cause, but I have no idea how to best recover from that.

Clear Firefox caches, restart? Reboot?

I've answered many thousands of Delicious support questions, but I haven't heard this one before. I suspect there's something wrong with Firefox's local bookmarks database; trying an empty profile is a great idea.

Response by poster: A late reply & thanks: I created an empty profile, and the behaviour stopped; in addition firefox had stopped suggesting more than the same two or three web addresses when i half-typed a url, that has also resolved itself. Alas, i now have to remember all my passwords and renew my bookmarks.
