Resident Evil 5 not starting on PS3, how do i fix it?

I installed Resident Evil 5 on my ps3. The game started with the cinematic but after that it just kicks me back to the home screen of the PS. Now the game does'nt even start and it just keeps coming back to the home screen. I have tried other games like Little Big planet and Street Fighter which are not giving any issues. So how do i get this game to work. I have the latest firmware 2.76 installed.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

This is probably obvious, but have you checked the disc itself for finger smudges? Several times I've had a game perform weirdly after install, and cleaning the (obvious) schmutz off the disc was the only action required.

This happened to me too. I believe it was Resident Evil or Tales of Valkyria. There is an update for the game you have to install first before it will let you go ahead. I cannot remember how to trigger this though.

I cleared the schumtz off the disc and it ran for a while and then it got stuck again. Now am not even able to start the game :(
