What are some good travel guides for Southern California?

I just got my first car and I've been exploring all around Southern California. I've lived in So Cal for most of my life, but I don't really know the place at all. Can anyone recommend me a good travel guide that'll point out all the nooks and crannies of where I live? I'd like something very detailed that gives candid descriptions ALL over Southern California (not just the "greatest hits"). I'm very excited to see what there is to see, and a little bit of direction would really help.

If you can't recommend a travel guide, some personal input on interesting spots would be just as appreciated.

The NFT guide to LA is GREAT for the "nooks and crannies" kind of thing. My husband and I recently moved here and we've found it very helpful.
