Question: What hard rock/metal band performed a song with the bass line from Seven Nation Army?

I was watching MTV Europe sometime last month, and I saw some live festival performance by a hard rock/metal band that used the "bassline" (really guitar) from Seven Nation Army. The rest of the song was completely different; it wasn't just a cover. It might have been an Italian group. Any ideas?

This is probably not what you're looking for, but the Flaming Lips have performed the music of "Seven Nation Army" with the lyrics from the Butthole Surfers' "Moving to Florida" sung over top.

Good thought, and I was hopeful since the Flaming Lips seems to be bigger over there. But you're right, that's not it. I found a copy of that and it sounds just like the White Stripes version -- if you don't listen to the lyrics too well.

I know that Damien Rice does a cover version of 'Seven Nation Army' - but its cello and girl singing...so probably not what you saw...

At Glastonbury this year two different bands I saw did this. One of them was Spearhead and Michael Franti. I can't remember who else did it - possibilities include The Zutons, Ordinary Boys, Eighties Matchbox B Line Disaster the Duke Spirit.

That's right ciilit - I seem to remember Seven Nation Army's bassline coming from at least 5 different bands at different points during the last Glasto. Made me smile everytime.

I know 2ManyDJs use it in their DJ sets all the time, in mashups / bootlegs, so that might be an avenue to pursue.

I think Audioslave covers the tune...I heard them do it at the last Lollapalooza. I'm not s WS fan, so I dunno about the lyrics.
