Since I'm moving to Baltimore in July, I'd like to get a handle on some good blogs by Baltimoreans. Content does not necessarily have to be Baltimore focused, but that would be nice too. What sites should I be reading?

Especially looking for food and local news/current events blogs, but will give anything a shot.

One of the better jumping off points is Blogtimore. Lots of good local blogs especially for restaurants, crime and local goings-on.

My friend, who attended college in Baltimore 2000-2004, and has been living & working there ever since, writes Believe in the Greatest City that Reads in America. Also, City Paper (with feeds galore available!) is pretty great as a web site & also as a free alternative weekly paper. Enjoy!

I also just moved from Baltimore (as in, yesterday!) Here are my recommendations:

- Baltimore Crime Blog. Depressing as hell, but better to know what you're getting in to.
- Baltimore Rowhouse. Uplifting, funny, and interesting blog about rehabbing a rowhouse in a rough-ish neighborhood. Start from the beginning and watch his progress!
- Welcome to Baltimore, Hon! "The City Guide Your Mother Warned You About"
- 'Round Downtown Baltimore. Sponsored by the downtown civic organization; good source for events and such.
- The Daddy Diaries. A gay couple navigates the Baltimore foster care system.
