Mailman problems with hotmail.

Why is my implementation of Mailman 2.1.11 not co-operating with @hotmail.com addresses?

I'm the manager of a discussion list using Mailman 2.1.11. For about a month now, traffic to and from @hotmail.com addressed has been blocked in almost all instances.

Users can still subscribe and unsubscribe by email, but no messages are getting through, with a few unpredictable exceptions.

The messages aren't dissappearing into the spam folder.

I'm in touch with the server techie - looking for problems there, and I'm in the process of making a relay using a gmail account to get message to people, but it's an ugly bodge.

The list has ~30 people on, so migrating everybody wouldn't be the end of the world if it's absolutely necessary.

My main question is - has anybody else had a similar problem, or have insight as to why this might be happening.

The usual reason this happens is that Hotmail (or Google, or Yahoo, or any mail host) is blocking too many rapid sequential connections (inbound mails) from the same place, on the assumption that it's a spam blast.

Insert a delay between messages or (this is inefficient and "wrong" but works, sadly) mix up the order, so that you're not delivering all the hotmail ones in a block.
