The Something Awful TV IV subforum seems to be pretty good. I only watch a few shows, though. posted by showbiz_liz at 6:55 PM on May 6
The Onion AV Club has episode reviews for certain series, and the discussions can be great (depending on the show). I also like the blog of reviewer Alan Sepinwall - he recaps a number of shows and there are often long and lively discussions in the comments. posted by moxiedoll at 6:59 PM on May 6
A lot of television shows have their own individual forums (mostly run by fans, which means some are better than others). If you google for the name of a specific show + "forum" you can usually find some good prospects. posted by amyms at 7:46 PM on May 6

They're OK. Very male. No thread on Private Practice over there. And they have no problem with posting during the show, which leads to page of no-context "OMG!!!!" posts. posted by smackfu at 8:18 PM on May 6

This is why I like Something Awful's TV threads. I watch TV at home by myself, so I don't really have anyone I can OMG with in real life. So, I do it in those threads. posted by Lucinda at 8:36 PM on May 6
Seconding the A.V. Club forums, and adding tvtropes.org, where a more meta (and oftentimes humorous and highly addictive) form of discussion is always going. posted by Navelgazer at 9:00 PM on May 6 [1 favorite]
Well, it's not a forum per se (maybe it is -- I just get the daily digests) but the group formerly known as TV Barn/Late Night Newsletter (Aaron Barnhart's old list) has some very smart (and witty) folks posting. Has a late night bias but they do discuss all sorts of shows. tvornottv@googlegroups.com posted by potsmokinghippieoverlord at 9:25 PM on May 6
Just curious as what you do not like (if anything) about Television Without Pity with regards to the type of forum you are looking for? posted by jca at 9:24 AM on May 7
I don't know about the original questioner, but I was banned for questioning a mod decision. That leaves a harsh taste in your mouth. posted by smackfu at 9:28 AM on May 7

What did you ask/question that lead to a banning? posted by jca at 12:47 PM on May 7
TiVo Community might meet your needs. Not affiliated with the TiVo Corporation, TiVo ownership not required.
A bit off-topic, but I was banned by Jacob and the reason was ""Banned for boards-on-boards, not reading 15/15." It was a while ago, and of course my post was disappeared, but I believe I said I was disappointed that they weren't allowing a season 2 thread for a UK show that hadn't aired season 2 in the US yet.
After I reregistered, I also got formally warned for posting "Has really no one eaten at Culinariane? It's not like Montclair NJ is in the middle of nowhere." in a Top Chef restaurant review thread. Just crazy moderators. posted by smackfu at 1:45 PM on May 7

@jca - Maybe this is true for other tv forums (I'll soon find out), but I found any substantial discussion of shows on TWOP to be drowned up by negative, snark-filled, and (most criminal) unfunny commentary.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I appreciate it! posted by chiefbroad at 6:20 PM on May 11
