Star Trek IMAX details (pan and scan?)

Will Star Trek on IMAX be shown in pan & scan or will there be bars on the top and bottom (I'd prefer bars)? Were any of the scenes shot for IMAX? I'm having trouble finding information online.

Looks like it will have bars like most non-IMAX movies do when shown on the big screen.

No scenes were filmed with IMAX cameras, at least not reported anywhere.

Dark Knight (and now Transformers 2) used having scenes shot in IMAX as a marketing point. Seeing as how Star Trek isn't pimping that it can be assumed that it has no true IMAX scenes.

Best answer: TrekToday agrees: not filmed in IMAX (although it got the title wrong). And IMDB just lists 35mm negatives, unlike The Dark Knight, which was filmed partially at 65mm.

So is there any advantage to seeing it in IMAX?

if you consider weird distortion from the giant curved screen an advantage...

i HATE seeing movies in the imax, unless they're filmed the right way it's always a dissapointment.

Best answer: I saw a sneak preview on an Imax Theater last week. There weren't bars. And it was awesome.

I saw the IMAX version. It was very big, and I didn't notice any significant image degradation. I'd say it was worth it.

And yes, this was real IMAX, not the inferior IMAX Digital.
