... Marx & Lenin ... stonewashed denim?

Was there a song with lyrics that rhymed 'Marx and Lenin' with 'stonewashed denim'? If I'm not imagining it, the song would probably date from the late '80s or early '90s. I'm thinking the band/singer was British, and was likely to have fallen somewhere under the alternative / indie umbrella.

My altogether unreliable memory believes that the line 'before the ink was dry on the contract' was also part of the same song. I hope I am not making this up.

(another site I found the lyrics on had "stonewashed", which makes more sense, but they were laid out in an ugly way so I found another, that I realise is probably wrong)

I should add that, strictly speaking, this song was by Norman Cook's pre-Fatboy band Beats International.
