I just want to add podcasts to my Shuffle. Is that too much to ask?

After installing the newest version of iTunes (8.1.1), I can no longer add files to my 2nd generation iPod Shuffle. Please hope me.

The new version of iTunes appears to recognize the Shuffle. But if I right-click on a podcast or song, and choose "Add to Playlist" the iPod is not listed as an option.

I tried...
- Running a connectivity diagnostic to see if the Shuffle was communicating with the computer (it said it was).
- Restoring the Shuffle to original settings.
- Rebooting my computer.
- Hooking the Shuffle into different USB ports.
- Loading podcasts into a playlist first, then autofilling into the Shuffle. This did not work for podcasts (it said "no songs in the playlist can be copied to this iPod), but this allowed me to autofill songs.

Everything was working just fine until I upgraded the iTunes software... I don't really care about music, but I listen to podcasts constantly (or, I did).

I am tech illiterate, but would appreciate any suggestions.

Best answer: Have you tried dragging them?

Try disconnecting the shuffle, turning it off, wait five seconds, turn it back on and try again.

Response by poster: Wow. I did not know that dragging and dropping was even an option. Color me embarrassed. Thank you!

This is a "feature" of the Shuffle - it will never autofill with podcasts, only music. Annoying since I only use the Shuffle for podcasts...
