Repair PSP or buy a new one?

Should I get my PSP-2000 fixed or buy a new PSP-3000?

Some months back my PSP got dropped when someone tried to mug me. The screen started not turning on (although the backlight seems to work) with increasing regularity until finally it stopped altogether (the screen, not the rest of the PSP).

I finally have money to repair it (and continue my game of Disgaea) - and now I find out that there's a new model out with a (debatably) improved screen (among other incremental upgrades).

So, PSP users and video game lovers - any advice? I mostly play SRPGs and stuff in the Patapon/Katamari/Locoroco vein, if that matters.

If you homebrew, run emulators, etc, be aware no-one is even close to hacking the 3000 at this stage.

Depends on the cost of the repair. I'd say if it's more than 50% of the price of a new one, replace it.

Since the major selling point of the 3000 is the screen you should find a way to try one out in person and see if you really like it. I say this because the sub-pixel structure of the 3000's screen causes what looks like scanlines and is really quite unappealing to a lot of people. YMMV.

Other than that, pretty much what was already said (although the possibility of running emulators on one might not be TOO far off). For me it would come down to the difference in cost mostly, and my feelings on the screen.
