Ate too much sugar, feel vomit-y. Help?

Had a ton of chocolate for lunch, thought it was a good idea at the time. Went for a pretty hard run after work. Wasn't hungry afterwards, but ate too many grapes and dried dates. Took a nap. Woke up feeling so vomit-y and weak and barely made myself walk over to the computer.

Any immediate fixes to either make myself vomit or make myself feel better? I can't do the finger-down-the-throat thing, and have no ipecac. Also kind of hungry, but still feeling sick.

(You are not my doctor, and I don't need healthy diet/exercise advice, this is literally the first (and last!) time I did anything like this)

Hm. For me, if I feel like I have to vomit, leaning over a toilet for a few minutes is enough to put myself into the "time to throw up" mindset, and it usually works.

Alternatively, drink something bubby (like soda water). It'll either settle your stomach or make you sick.

Good luck; I hope you feel better soon!

It sounds like a sugar rush and crash to me - what works for me is plenty of water and some complex carbohydrates. But you'll feel crappy for the rest of the evening.

Sounds like you feel weak and icky from eating only sugary foods, and vomiting won't help if they've already hit your bloodstream. Eat something high in protein like some plain chicken or have a glass of milk.

If you're not prepared to force yourself to vomit there is little you can do beyond sucking it up and learning for next time.

Peppermint tea is a very good way to settle your stomach. Just straight peppermint leaves as a tea, mind, rather than "mint mixed with black tea". Just straight up, ideally; no milk, no sugar. Personally, I like it that way, but I could see how others would feel like "omigod I'm drinking an Altoids HELP". But it does settle the stomach a lot.

speaking of which, sucking on a peppermint hard candy or chewing an Altoid may also help (specifically an Altoid, because they have a way lot of peppermint oil).

I'd go with olinerd: stick your head in the toilet bowl and sort of "force" it up, without sticking your finger down your throat. You'd be surprised how effective it is. I do it whenever I've had too much to drink and am starting to get the hiccups. Works a charm!

if you can get some ginger ale, you can slowly sip that. Put it over ice so it's extra cold and gets a bit watered down. It does contain sugar, but if you're doing it right, you should only be drinking a small amount.

A lot of times when I'm nauseated, it helps to burp a bit, and ginger ale does that (or Sprite in a pinch, but ginger ale works best for me, at least).

If you can stand to eat something, try something protein, like was suggested above.

Bubbly water! Thank god for my ridiculous obsession with seltzer and always having some around. I didn't want to go near it at first but it helped me feel like I can face food again, and then I ate some tater tots. I feel better!

...I ate some tater tots. I feel better!

I think that's the first time I ever heard that sequence of events! Usually I'd go with some combo of fresh and bland, like my personal favorite, steamed rice.

For the record, ipecac is not something to think of as a Pepto Bismol substitute.

If the sugar is already in the blood stream, drink a lot of water. My nutritionist says that water and a brisk walk do lower the the glucose levels.
