Who's the kid in the "Preview" icon?

Who is the child in the icon for the "Preview" application in OS X?

Just wondering if it was a child of an Apple employee, or from a movie, or whatnot.

Probably just a stock photo. At least that's my guess.

I remember hearing something about Apple asking employees to submit all of their best photos (without any credit to them of course). That could be one of them.

That kid freaks me right the hell out, with the crazy eyes. For that reason, I highly doubt it's stock photography, which usually feature beaming, happy kids. I will ask a friend at Apple and report back, perhaps there is lore about it floating around about its origins.

wow those are some awful graphics - the kid is fine, but what's with the tank orange and the lascivious ferret?

Just a follow-up: I asked a friend at Apple if there was any lore about this, and he came up blank (actually he made this.. apologies in advance). He did look through Apple's database of stock photography and was unable to locate this picture, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not stock.

Someone mail this guy. :)
