Insufficient permissions error preventing copying files to NAS USB dongle based server from OS X machine

I have a clone of an Addonics NAS USB Dongle, and having set it up, I am trying to copy across 1gb or less files from a Mac Mini running OS X 10.5.6 to it, it is 500gb, and the server formats it FAT32 as a matter of course, as this is how it works. However some files will copy, but most will copy then stop, generating an error, stating I have insufficient privileges to copy the file. Can anyone help me sort this issue?

FAT32 has some interesting limitations which you may be running up against.

OS X will let you have filenames that aren't allowed on FAT32. When you try to copy one of these files over you may get that error message.

You can solve this a couple of ways. Rename your files, don't use FAT32, or store your OSX files inside a sparse disk image and put that disk image (which will be a single file) onto the FAT32 volume. That's the most flexible option, but you will need to stay under the 2GB single-file size limit.

Based upon odinsdream, this app may be helpful, although I haven't used it personally.
