Looking for really good foreign newspapers/websites.

I enjoying reading the news on the BBC website, and occasionally head over to The Guardian as well. What are some other foreign news sources I should look into (must be in English though)?

Best answer: I enjoy the International Herald Tribune, which is aka the "Global Edition" of the NYT.

Good stuff.

The New York Times.

Best answer: The Glob of Mail. A pretty good newspaper, though certainly less international than the Guardian or the IHT. Their special features are world class and they cover some international news, like Afghanistan, more closely than anyone else. Certainly Canada's only English newspaper that matters on the world stage. The Post and The Star don't really cut it.

Best answer: Deutsche Welle offers an English version of its news service. DW is sort of the German equivalent of the BBC World Service.

The Financial Times Weekend Edition (Sat.) is by far and away the best newspaper I've ever read.

Best answer: I'm assuming that by foreign you mean non-US? I'm partial to Stuff, and The Times of India has the largest circulation of any English-language newspaper in the world.

Second the English version of Der Spiegel. It's the major German newsweekly; quality-wise, it's definitely better than the American newsweeklies - it's got lots of very detailed articles (about as long as New Yorker features) and a wide variety of topics, though it focuses much more on Europe and Germany than, say, The Economist. Unfortunately, none of the major German papers like the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung or the Süddeutsche Zeitung have English versions.

Why would they?

Le Monde Diplomatique, here in English, is excellent for in-depth analysis. Unfortunately only a few of the articles every month are available to non-subscribers.

Another source of interesting perspectives from the Middle East, UAE to be exact:

Ubersturm thinks that major German newspapers would be interesting to read, but the OP won't be able to because they aren't in a language that he likes reading in. Why the snark?

I love browsing through Online Newspapers. Not all the newspapers are in English, but many are.

I have scaled back my news intake, but before appreciated the moderate shift in perspective of The Jordan Times. Mosaic is pretty amazing, too.
