Flash layers not displayed in 3mDS software

Flash in 3MDS (Remote display screen software) does not display certain layers.

I'm trying to display certain .swf files using remote display software. This isn't exactly word press, so the usual fact finding journeys (i.e. google) are dead ends.

My problem is that layers that show up using flash preview or in the preview html page are shown, but the software refuses to show these layers when it's ran from the display software. I've found that it looks like text is not displayed and that certain elements from the library don't show up. It only displays simple vectors, background images, and motion tweens.

Any flash gurus out there who have encountered similar kinds of problems with deploying flash files?

CS3, flash 10 player, winXP, and 3MDS (most of the information on this is hidden behind a registration link)

Response by poster: The player is playing the .swf files directly, no video codecs whatsoever.

Response by poster: Well, VLC works (the tests I'm doing are on my main devel laptop). I'm leaning towards a flash problem.
