Blogger/Google Hit Counter?

StupidQuestionFilter: I have a small-time blogger blog, but I can't seem to find a tool that will give me the most simple thing: a hit count for it.

Blogger is a Google tool, so you'd think that under Webmaster Tools there would be some kind of hit stats, but there don't seem to be. Feedburner used to provide me with this basic info, but that vanished when Google bought them and now Feedburner only tracks who has my feed. What embarrassingly simple thing am I missing? Or do I need to install some third party tool?

I use SiteMeter and have no complaints after several years. Can't beat the price, either!

You could look into Google Analytics. It's free and since Blogger is a Google product, hopefully they would play nice together. My current and former employer both used Google Analytics and it offered some powerful data.

I used Google Analytics. It's sorta silly that it's not more tightly integrated with Blogger, but it's easy enough to set up and use.

I recommend StatCounter, which is free. I've tried StatCounter and SiteMeter (the free version) each for several months, and I think StatCounter is much better.

StatCounter seems to have all the features SiteMeter has, plus a lot more. For instance, it shows you a clear list of search terms people have used to get to your blog. SiteMeter also keeps track of the search terms, but it doesn't show them to you all in one list -- it mixes them in with other referring sites, which isn't as fun. Both sites just show you data for your most recent visitors (in addition to the all-time total number of visitors), but StatCounter caps it at the last 500 page views, which is more generous than SiteMeter, which caps it at the last 200 visitors. There are all sorts of things about StatCounter that are more versatile than SiteMeter -- it'd be hard to list them all.

If you want to see an example of StatCounter, you can go to my blog (in my profile) and look at the very bottom of the right-hand sidebar ("StatCounter - Unique visitors to this blog - [#] - View complete stats"). Then you can click on that link to see how StatCounter shows you tons of info about your visitors.

if you're not averse to migrating to wordpress, it offers some really good traffic monitoring.

Seconding StatCounter, which works with Blogger just fine.

StatCoutner and Google Analytics offer pretty much the same information and are both about as easy to set up. But I think Google has a much better interface, is easier to use, and quicker to find the useful information.
