How do I keep PowerPoint (2007) from inserting a "Click to add title" textbox when I delete a slide's title?

Remove the title box, not just the text. The easiest way for me to do this is to select the box, then Ctrl+X to cut it out.

Also, go to View > Master View and delete the automatic placeholders.

Happy Dave has it.

Just to give you another option, you could make the title a single space. Although I'd go with removing the entire box with either of the above methods.

Response by poster: mattybonez, when I do that -- whether I hit Ctrl-X or Del -- PowerPoint creates an entirely new text box with its accursed text.

I'd like to still have new slides appear with title text boxes. I just don't want them to spawn when I delete them. Nevertheless, since I copy titles and slides more often than I create new ones, Happy Dave's solution is probably the best one.

As far as I know this shouldn't really be a problem because when you play the slide show powerpoint doesn't show the boxes that say insert title here.

DJWeezy has it. That placeholder text doesn't appear during a slideshow.

Response by poster: It doesn't appear, but it's SUPER SUPER ANNOYING (more than going to the trouble of click-[Del]) to work around.
