Writing has no place on the Internet.

Is there an effective and easy to use website for writers to post writing samples?

I'm looking for something like Monster or Career Builder for creative types. I'm also looking for something with which other Mefites have had some measure of success. I am aware that Craigslist and Elance function much in this way, but both have been ineffective for what I am searching. Thanks in advance to all.

Mediabistro and similar sites have job listings geared towards writers and other creative types, but I think what you are looking for is some kind of blog/portfolio to put your stuff up on and list on your resume. Suggestions: tumblr, blogger, Squarespace (with kevin rose 10% off promo incl in link), etc.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I was looking for something where people looking for writer could actively browse sample. They way an employer browses resumes on Monster.

Maybe it doesn't exist. Maybe it should.

I'm not sure this really exists. Most people (or organizations?) who need writing don't have to go looking for it. Maybe for very specific types of writing, this exists, but especially if you're talking about creative writing I'm pretty positive that a Monster.com-type thing for creative writers wouldn't really work the way you're hoping. (I don't work in the publishing industry or anything; this is must my impression.)

Here are some links to the sorts of things I've read that give me that impression:

Not sure how directly those links will address your concerns but they might be a place to start, or at least interesting or entertaining.
