I'd like a wireless network adapter that's supported by Linux 2.4 or 2.6 kernels with a minimum of hassle. I'd prefer a USB network adapter; a USB key would be ideal, but I don't know what sort of reception they get. A PCI card is acceptable as well, though less preferable. Any suggestions?

As I understand it (this isn't a problem for me as my PCs are wired and my laptop is a Mac), Linux wireless support depends on the chipset your adapter uses. The problem is that manufacturers will use different chipsets for the the same network adapter, without changing the model number or providing any other indication of the switch.

You might have better luck asking your local LUG or a distro-specific forum. Sorry this reply is so useless, but I hate to see a question go unanswered.
