Flowers we can believe in

KenyaFilter: The girlfriend will be in Kenya over her birthday next month and I would like to surprise her (more inside).

Unfortunately I can't make the trip, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a international florist? I found Flora2000 and interflora online but have no idea as to their quality. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've never used Flora2000 to send flowers to Kenya, but I have used them to send flowers to numerous other countries. I've always been happy with their service. If they list Kenya as a country they deliver to, I'd assume they'd do a good job.

I have personally used interflora to deliver to kenya about a dozen times with no problems. Furthermore, if you're looking for something more may I recommend MamaMikes.

I live in Nairobi (when I'm not traveling for work). Is the GF here in town or elsewhere in-country? If its here in town, there's some great florists I can give you the numbers for and a quick Skype / Intl. call shouldn't take you too long to get it sorted, if you prefer to go that route. They'll probably be a bit cheaper than Interflora.

MamaMikes has Mbuzi ya jamii (slaughtered or live goat, your choice) which could also be a nice surprise ;).

Too bad you can't make the trip, Kenya has ridiculously cheap roadside flower stands practically all over (they grow a majority of the flowers sold in many parts of Europe), you could probably get her 10x the flowers for the same money locally.

mmmmm....goat. Thanks, all of you have been extremely helpful! I think I'll go with MamaMike's, I can get a cake and flowers plus support the local industry, she'll love it!
