Bible Study Question - are there any studies that are similar in feel to a Beth Moore study but less woman-centric. Everything that I have heard about her studies are that they are amazing etc but very much geared towards an audience of women. I am looking for something a little more generic (and in depth but you do not have to be a scholar) if that exists. No Purpose Driven Life though please.

I'm not familiar with Moore, but here are some suggestions which are both substantive and accessible.

First, check out Love Walked Among Us by Paul Miller. It's an amazing unpacking of the life of Jesus, focusing on how he interacts with people. There's an incredible amount that can be gleaned there.

Second, consider Desiring God by John Piper. A lot of people have found that an incredibly helpful resource for focusing one's life around God.

Last, look into The Prodigal God by Tim Keller. Keller is an influential pastor in New York City whose take on the Parable of the Prodigal Son is absolutely amazing.

All three are structured in such a way that leading a study on them would be very easy.

Well, why not pop down to your local Bible Bookstore and thumb through one of her studies? I went through one years ago and honestly don't remember it being that womancentric.

(I've read and appreciated the Desiring God book by Piper but this is apples and oranges. Moore is way more in depth.)

This isn't in depth in terms of a specific passage, per se, but Walter Wink's Transforming Bible Study is a classic in terms of opening up the scripture. I'd recommend Transforming Bible Study in combination with a good ecumenical Bible commentary to be used in preparation by the leader such as the Oxford Annotated Bible.

If you're looking to study a specific book of the Bible, you might look up commentaries by various authors for the specific area you're interested in reading and studying.

2nding Keller / Redeemer. He also recently released The Reason For God which you also might enjoy as a read, but less so as an actual bible study.

Redeemer (Keller's church in NYC) has a lot of their fellowship group study materials up on their website, plenty of great stuff there to dig through, and it fits your description (in depth but not scholarly) to a T.
