Need suggestions on some good magazines

Can you recommend me some good magazines similar to Readers Digest?

Hi All,

About 10-15 years ago I loved Reader's Digest. Recently I was looking at Amazon for purchasing the subscription. But after reading the review looks like its not what it used to be. Seems like it's more of ads, weight loss advice, etc ...

This is just for night time reading. I would like to read few pages before I go to sleep. Currently I'm looking at Reader's Digest or National Geographic Traveler.

Do you have anyother recommendations for me? Preferably annual subscription less than $15.

You might like Atlantic Monthly.

It's a bit above your suggested price, but Mental Floss seems like it might work.

That's the first time I've ever heard Readers' Digest compared to Atlantic Monthly. I don't think you'd find them very similar.

I second Mental Floss. It's full of random facts and has a sense of humor. I first noticed it when I saw their swimsuit issue - with a picture of Einstein in his swimsuit.

Shoot, *I* was going to say Mental Floss! But it probably will be great for you. It's full of lots of short, interesting funny articles.

If you like National Geographic Traveler, you might like Budget Travel.

Response by poster: Thanks. Mental Floss seems to be good. That's the kind I'm looking for random interesting facts like real life true stories, section on humor, new discoveries, travel destinations, etc ... Basically it's the breadth not the depth :-)

anyway keep em coming.

Just so you know.. I like the Reader's Digest magazine itself, but the company itself is annoying. We supposedly got a free subscription and they wanted to charge us and they wouldn't let us cancel. It was not a good experience

Response by poster: Yeah I heard about that too. If I'm subscribing to it probably I'll go through Amazon.

WARNING! Amazon does not handle its subscriptions itself; some other company does. I oredered an English magazine from Amazon years ago and never recieved the magazine, nor could I get a refund.
