Looking for some audio whiz that can confirm that this particular iPod adapter and car stereo will work. Dazzle me with your knowledge and experience!

I'm looking to figure out a way to hook my first gen iPod Touch directly into my factory installed car stereo. It is a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser with an RBQ radio (six disc changer, no cassette deck, and looks like this:) The end result doesn't need to look flashy, charge my iPod, or use the head unit to control the tracks. A simple aux jack tucked away somewhere would suit me fine. I am not interested in hearing about FM transmitters or modulators -- I've tried them with no real success, but thank you.

The PIE CHRY02-AUX Auxiliary input adapter for select 2002-06 Chrysler radios which seemed most promising boldly says "NOT COMPATIBLE with Chrysler's 6-disc in dash radio (i.e "RBQ")." The one that is a Mopar product really only talks about model years 2006 and newer.

Is there a solution that will work for me? Does the Mopar OEM iPod Interface Kit work with a 2003 Chrysler RBQ 6-disc changer radio?

You can also try Crutchfield -- I've had very good luck with them in finding the right hardware, being able to return the wrong stuff, and help with installation. You can call them at 1-888-955-6000 to talk about what'll work.

After looking high and low for a way to get a line in on my car stereo, it turned out to be much more affordable to get a new stereo put in that had a line in. I ended up buying a Sony with a single CD and a line in for about $70 and I put it in myself.

Of course, I was more inclined to do this since some nice fellow uninstalled my previous stereo (and previous driver's side window) without our consent.

Update: I am going out on a limb and purchasing this one called USA_SPEC_DF_CHR. The guy that TDIpod recommended in the first comment got back to me and said:

That's funny because I didn't think it would work but their application guide made no mention of the in dash 6 so I called them. They assured me it would work. You are more than welcome to order it and try it. If it doesn't work you are just out shipping.

I'll keep everyone posted.
