I went for a walk this morning and saw two small piles of white rice with red sauce or dye on top encircled by lime slices on both corners of my neighbor's lawn. What was this for?

Could it be a rice offering?

Could it be a form of the Bali rice ritual called "penampeh," which I believe is a kind of ceremonial insect extermination?

If they're from Southeast Asia (Indonesia, predominantly), it could be an offering.
