I want to order some of these and some Miracle fruit. I'm fairly certain that, if you eat them together, you'll create antimatter in your mouth. posted by Cat Pie Hurts at 9:19 AM on March 8, 2009 [1 favorite]
Unless the buttons are a radically different subspecies, this spice is usually known as Szechuan Peppercorns, and it's available online at a few places under this name. My then-boyfriend and I ate meat seasoned in Szechuan peppercorn in Beijing, and while the sensation is neat at first, it starts to taste like you sucked on cinnamon potpourri. posted by zoomorphic at 6:29 PM on March 8, 2009

zoomorphic - They are completely different species. JPDD is talking about Acmella oleracea.
I know what you mean about sichuan peppercorns, though. I use them sparingly in my asian cooking lest I get a mouth full of that intense potpourri flavor. posted by Cat Pie Hurts at 6:45 PM on March 8, 2009
