Where in Paris to idle away the day?

What's your favourite place in Paris to idle time away ordering cafe cremes and working through a giant book? Chill and economical is the combination for which I seek. I'm up in Montmartre, but don't mind hitting the metro for somewhere rad.

Centre Culturel Suedois. Coffee is cheap as all hell, they have a courtyard and a beautiful garden. It's a treasure.

Any of the coffee shops in Abbesses are worthwhile, mostly because that neighborhood is incredible...

When it's nice out, I like the Place du Marché Ste.-Cathérine in the 4th. A long haul for you, though. I also enjoyed whiling away some time in the café across from the Mairie du XVIIIe (Métro Jules Joffrin), a lot closer to you.

Le Progres, 7 Rue des Trois Frères. Large windows, and lots of wood in a fantastic corner location for watching the world go by.

No problemo on Rue Charles Nodier is also nice, very small and away from the crowds despite being close to the foot of the Sacre Coeur.

Contact info for both on this page.
