IP lawyer in Chicago

Recommendations for an intellectual property lawyer in Chicago? Husband is an independent consultant/software developer in Chicago in need of an IP lawyer for some service agreements/contracts liability discussions. This would likely be a few hours of work maybe a few times a year. Reasonable rates would be nice but willing to pay for expertise. Anyone have good experiences with someone they would recommend?

What type of IP is involved? Patents? Copyrights? I'd have different recommendations depending on what exactly he needs. Does he have a budget? Looking for biglaw or would he prefer a smaller firm?

Find a lawyer you know personally and ask them to look for you.

Another option open to him is a clinic at a law school. I can recommend the TIP Clinic at DePaul as a great place to go to for free IP work. (I was a student in the TIP Clinic previously)

TIP Clinic Homepage
You can contact the director of the Clinic, Barbara B. Bressler, her contact information is on the webpage. She'll discuss the work that needs to be done, and if its something the students can handle, you can have everything done for free! All the students are third-year students specializing in IP law. Some will have technical backgrounds if you have patent issues that need to be cleared up. And all the work is overseen by the Professors so you can be sure it's being done right.

If you would rather go with an actual attorney instead of a free clinic, I'll wait to get the answer to my previous questions for you before making any specific recommendations.

Response by poster: Thanks Arbac. There are no formal patents or copyrights involved, just contract review for licensing, ownership and liability primarily. The TIP clinic actually looks like it is a great place to start. The descriptions on the home page are very much in line with the type of advice/support he needs.
