I love Garfield's Halloween. It's just a 20-30 mintue show, and it is Garfield, but man, it was actually funny, had cool songs, and just enough spookiness.

Depending on what you are looking for (you didn't mention an age range and such), the ending of SLEEPAWAY CAMP can be a fun thing to experience with a large group of adults (who haven't seen it, of course). posted by jca at 12:39 PM on October 31, 2004

Age Range is 20-25. Right now, I'm thinking Nightmare Before Christmas, (is this a halloween movie, or a christmas movie?) Pet Cemetary (I don't care what anyone tells you, this movie ROCKS IT) and Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors.

Evil Dead II has to be up there.. but my main pick would be.. REANIMATOR!

First, let me note that no such gathering could be complete without Nudist Colony of the Dead, a rollicking zombie nudie musical with songs such as "God Will Show Us the Way."
If this is going to be a long night, I'd suggest going with one or two from different categories of film -- let the audience narrow things down. For a party, you'll want films with a bit of silly IMHO.
Categorizations vary, and there's overlap, but for me there's:
MONSTERS FROM THE BRINY DEEP! I'd go with Deep Rising (Famke Janssen, yum, and nicely silly) or Deep Blue Sea (the Samuel-L speech is glorious). If you want your horror 1980's-style, go with Leviathan or Deep Star Six.
TERROR FROM BEYOND THE STARS! I *would* say Alien, but that's probably too genuinely scary and serious to be a good movie flick. I'd recommend Alien: Resurrection for these purposes, or Jason X. Either version of The Thing, but Carpenter's is more fun. Maybe either version of The Blob, but those are more TDTTIGD movies to me. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
THEY DARED TO TAMPER IN GOD'S DOMAIN! One of the Jurassic Park movies might fit here. Either Blob movie. Young Frankenstein. Leviathan. Godzilla if you don't mind suckage.
HORROR RISES FROM THE GRAVE! The new Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later. Any vampire movie; you might as well get the one with 36 of D from Star Trek Voyager. An American Werewolf in London. Jason X, I suppose.
BEASTS FROM BEYOND TIME! Godzilla / Rodan / Gamera etc. King Kong. Any of a jillion flicks from the 1950s. posted by ROU_Xenophobe at 2:52 PM on October 31, 2004
